Are you interested in becoming a Catholic?

Do you want to know more about the Catholic Church – what it teaches and believes?

The Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults programme (RCIA) will commence in the parish in March 2017 for those who are considering becoming Catholic. The programme will run from March 2017 until Easter 2018. An enrolment and information evening will be held on Wednesday 8th March at 7.30pm in the parish centre. The cost of the programme is $50.  You will also need to have a bible for scriptural sessions.  The bible you will need is the Jerusalem Bible or the Revised  Standard Version Bible—Roman Catholic editions only (please).  Other versions of the bible are not adequate.

A number of parishioners have been asking for some form of ongoing Adult Education regarding their faith.  This is an excellent group for such people as we will be exploring many aspects of our religion.  These include:

  • The Sacraments of Eucharist, Reconciliation, Baptism, Confirmation, Marriage.
  • How to use/pray the bible.
  • What is prayer?—how to pray—different forms of prayer.
  • Divorce & annulment.
  • Papal authority.
  • The church’s understanding on morality.
  • Mary’s role in the Church.
  • The afterlife—hell—purgatory—heaven.
  • Social Justice—The Environment.

Other topics people are interested in will also be discussed in a safe environment. This is an adult group so respect for all opinions is required and we ask that people be open-minded.  What is said in the group is confidential so people can be free to share their own experiences, thoughts and feelings.
