Dear Parish Priests and Parish Offices,

After sending the below email last week regarding the Synod consultation process, a significant announcement from the General Secretariat of the Synod of Bishops was received advising an extension of the diocesan consultation phase until August 2022 (previously 17th December 2021).

As a result we will not be proceeding with Archdiocesan-wide consultation sessions in November as previously advised. These previously advised sessions have now been cancelled and anyone already registered will be individually advised of the change. We apologise for any inconvenience but this announcement was unexpected and we are adapting based on the significantly changed timeline.

However, we will hold two sessions for parish leaders (staff, clergy or volunteers) who are interested to understand the Synod journey and how they might engage and consult within their own communities.

There will be two sessions held which you are invited to attend in order to learn more about:

  • What is the Synod on Synodality?
  • How can we contribute as a local community to the preparatory phase?
  • Experience the discernment process as a participant so you might learn to facilitate your own community discernment for the Synod consultation in 2022.

The sessions (same content for each session, repeated at different days/times) will be held on:

  • Tuesday November 23rd, 2.00pm – 3.30pm
  • Thursday November 25th, 7.30 – 9.00pm

Both sessions will be hosted online (via zoom) and registration for the sessions is via the trybooking link:https://www.trybooking.com/BVEXX
