Lenten Reflections

Lenten Reflections classes will be held on Wednesday during Lent.

Rosary & Stations of the Cross

The Rosary will be held at 7.00pm and the Stations of the Cross will be held at 7.30pm each Friday.

Season of Lent — Good Works — Charity

Over the past 9 years we have supported various charities during Lent. This year as a parish we have decided to support the following groups:

The Lenten display in the foyer has Project Compassion envelopes and boxes plus donation envelopes for the other 2 groups. There is provision on the back of the envelope for you to request a receipt for taxation purposes. Please note that donations to the Parishioners Crisis Support Fund and the Supporting Families Program are not tax deductible. Envelopes can be placed in the collection bags at weekend Masses or left at the Parish Centre.

Parishioners’ Crisis Support Fund

The people that this fund assists are members of our own parish family – active in the life of the parish and well known by fellow parishioners. It is for these reasons that they are reluctant (due to either embarrassment or pride or a combination of both) to seek assistance for themselves or their family through St Vincent de Paul. The fund was established a few years ago with the aim of supporting parishioners who find themselves facing a financial crisis. It may be due to an unexpected medical or household expense or sudden loss of employment. Donation envelopes are available in the church foyer.

Unfortunately donations to the Parishioners’ Crisis Support Fund are not tax deductible.

Caritas Australia—Project Compassion

Project Compassion is Caritas Australia’s annual fundraising and awareness raising appeal, bringing thousands of Australians together in solidarity with the world’s poor to help end poverty, promote justice and uphold dignity.  The 2018 theme is “For A Just Future”. Running through the six weeks of Lent each year, Project Compassion is an extraordinary, ongoing demonstration of the faith, love and generosity of caring supporters, all in the name of justice and peace. It is the lifeblood of Caritas Australia; without it, we could not do the vital work we do. Donation boxes and envelopes are available in the church foyer.

Donations of $2.00 or more are tax deductible.

Support After Suicide

The Support After Suicide Community brings together people who are bereaved by suicide.  They offer professional counselling and group services and online support which are free of charge.  Over the past 10 years, they have assisted over 2,000 people.  They have a range of activities and programs specifically developed by children and young people.

They are able to meet with families with Frankston and Dandenong as the closest local groups to our parish.  One of our parishioners, Giovanna Chaucer, will be speaking at our Masses regarding her own family’s experiences of dealing with suicide.

Funding raised by our Lenten donations will go towards the next print run of “Tell Me What Happened; talking with children and young people about suicide”, as they have distributed the majority of the books from their first print run.

As Support After Suicide is auspiced by the Jesuit Social Services, donations are tax deductible.
