Season of Lent — Good Works — Charity

Over the past 12 years we have supported various charities during Lent. This year as a parish we have decided to support the following groups:

The Lenten display in the foyer has Project Compassion envelopes and boxes. There is provision on the back of the envelope for you to request a receipt for taxation purposes. Please note that donations to the Parishioners Crisis Support Fund is not tax deductible. Project compassion boxes can stay with you until Holy Week. Envelopes can be placed in the collection bags at weekend Masses or left at the Parish Centre.

Caritas Australia—Project Compassion

Project Compassion is Caritas Australia’s annual fundraising and awareness raising appeal, bringing thousands of Australians together in solidarity with the world’s poor to help end poverty, promote justice and uphold dignity.  The 2024 theme is “For All Future Generations”. Running through the six weeks of Lent each year, Project Compassion is an extraordinary, ongoing demonstration of the faith, love and generosity of caring supporters, all in the name of justice and peace. It is the lifeblood of Caritas Australia; without it, we could not do the vital work we do.

During Lent, helping charities takes on profound significance. It’s a time when we’re called to reflect on our blessings and share them with those in need. By supporting charities, we embody the spirit of selflessness and compassion that Lent encourages. Our acts of generosity not only make a tangible difference in the lives of others but also deepen our own spiritual journey, reminding us of the transformative power of love and kindness. Let’s embrace this opportunity to make a positive impact and live out the true essence of Lent.

Please donate to Project Compassion. The boxes and envelops are at the foyer.

Donations of $2.00 or more are tax deductible.
