We are setting this page to let all parishioners know what is happening in this area

On 22 May 2021 in the presence of Melbourne priests, Archbishop Peter A. Comensoli announced that the Melbourne Archdiocese would be undergoing a radical and wholesale restructure – converting 209 parishes into 50 to 60 Missions. The Archbishop has called this restructure “Take the Way of the Gospel”. The Archbishop’s hope is that the restructure will bring vitality back to our parishes.

“Take the Way of the Gospel” aims to:

The same content was introduced to the selected representatives of the parishes in May. Christopher (Chris) Long was our representative to this meeting. Our next phase is letting the wider community know of this plan. Chris spoke to us during weekend Masses on 10/11 of July, and stayed back to answer some questions.

May the Spirit guide our discernment in this journey to re-imagine our local communities and renew our common mission to proclaim the Gospel in these times. Come, Holy Spirit.

below is the outline of next phase;

Following up on Chris talk at Masses the next step is the meeting with regional representatives. On Tuesday September 7th will be the regional meeting. We have been asked to nominate two lay people to attend regional meeting. They must be one parish staff member and one non-employed parish leader. Sumitha and Chris Long and Fr. Martin will attend the meeting. We will keep you updated.

We had our southern meeting on 7th September. There were not much new information shared, except we now know what perishes we will be joining as Mission. Parishes of Frankston, Langwarrin and us are those parishes designed by the archdiocese to be one Mission.

Our next step will be calling for two coordinators from our parish who will be working with the diocesan team. Are you interested to a coordinator? Please call or email the office.

The next regional meetings are on 21st September at 7pm or 22nd September at 11am, although more will be available in October.

Let us enter into a period of deep prayerful reflection and when we are allowed to gather as community for Mass, we will have opportunities to discern.

We can imagine many questions rising in your minds about this. Please contact the office for any concern or comments.
