Next week is pastoral/spiritual care week for 2021. The theme of this year’s week is ‘Advancing Spiritual Care Through Research’.

In response, Catholic Social Services Victoria (CSSV) and St John of God Accord are pleased to invite you to an online panel discussion ‘Spiritual Health and Wellbeing – its Presence and Impact in the Lives of People with Intellectual Disability’ that will feature a presentation on research that is currently being undertaken to explore the impacts of pastoral care to clients with intellectual disability and their carers. This event invites all participants into a discussion and better understanding of the approach and impact that pastoral care can have in promoting a holistic understanding of each person we work and interact with, and advance recognition of the inherent dignity of all people.

This is an opportunity for us in social services and beyond to take some time to listen, reflect and think through how in our own organisations, spaces and places we can work proactively to appreciate, and meet the needs of, the whole person. This discussion will draw from research and work in the disability space to provide a concrete focus, but there are principles and learnings that will hold for a wide variety of contexts.

We hope you can join us for the discussion! RSVP here. (More information here) and flyer can be found here.
